Subject: The Will of GOD

Text: Romans 12:1-2

Intro: One of the most difficult things in the Christian life is to know and to do the will of the LORD. How often in my life have I been confronted with this fact, trying to know the will of the LORD and then trying to do it. It is possible to know the will of GOD on most matters, but it is likewise not handed down from heaven in broad letters so that you and I want have to pray and seek GOD'S face in the matter..

The Lord Jesus Christ said: Mark 3:35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

So in this verse we can readily see that we can do the will of GOD. In our text in Romans we have the beginning of understanding and doing the will of the LORD... The text presents at least three things that I wish to address you own this morning in helping you see how to find the will of GOD for your life..

I... " THE PRESENTATION OF OUR BODIES: VS 1

1st. To whom we make this presentation to: It is unto the LORD... vs 1 God makes this claim upon us because we are bought with a price: 1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

2nd. Why does God want our bodies: vs 1

a. Because it is the seat of our sinful desires:
b. Because of our tendencies to indulge our bodies in sinful things:

1 Corinthians 6:15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make [them] the members of an harlot? God forbid.

3rd. The reasonableness of this request: vs 1

Which means it follows logic, it is in harmony with reason. It is what the LORD wants us to do his people. This is the first step to knowing and doing the will of the LORD...if you and I are not willing to submit ourselves to the LORD then we will spend a lifetime searching and trying to find the will of GOD for our life. Jesus Christ calling upon men to follow him made it very clear that sacrifice was absolutely necessary...

Luke 9:23 And he said to [them] all, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

II... " THE SEPARATION FROM THE WORLD" VS 2

Contrary to Modern thinking this does not mean that you have to become some kind of morbid individual, neither does it mean that we are set a standard and try to reach and feel like we have failed if don't reach it. There is always need for improvement in all of our lives.. It is true that we are far to worldly minded. I want us to focus on the two words that Paul uses to try to see just what he is talking about...

1st. Conformed... "It means to shape ones mind and character after the pattern of another" So Paul clearly states that we are not to shape our thinking, our character after the world. That is be like them in actions in words and in example. There is a reason for it..

A. Because of what the world will do to us as a Christian.1 John 2:15-16 Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

B. Because the world is enmity against the Lord.. James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

2nd. Transformed... "It means to transfigure ones mind"

The way that you transfigure your mind into thinking like GOD wants us to think it a steady diet of the word of GOD. Without that you will become more and more like the world and you will be conformed in mind and in body to them., and that is not pleasing to the LORD. What does GOD'S word do for us..

a. It cleanses our minds from the filth of this world...Psalm 119:9Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed [thereto] according to thy word.

b. It protects us from sinning.. Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

C. It will guide you and I in the path's of righteousness...Psalm 119:105. Thy word [is] a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Many more things the word of GOD will do for you. Study it, live by it, head it's warning, obey it's commandments, hide it your minds.

III... " THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE WILL OF THE LORD"...VS 2

There is not a Christian here this morning that does not want to know the will of GOD well I have given you the first two steps now we look into the understanding d of it.

1st. We understand the will of GOD by biblical examples... Acts 13:36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

The Macedonians is an example to us concerning the will of GOD... Paul encouraging the people of God at Corinth with example of other christians...2 Corinthians 8:5 And [this they did], not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.

2nd. We understand the will of GOD when we really pray to the LORD in earnest...

Colossians 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard [it], do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

We see that even in the life of the LORD JESUS CHRIST... Even though he was GOD he was man and needed to pray and prayed often.

Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. Note that his praying often proceeded a great miracles he was to perform. Mark 6:45-46 And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people. 46 And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.

He walks on water after this prayer meeting.. Now I am not saying that you can walk on water or perform maricles but I am saying to find GOD's will you must pray..Check your prayer life out and see how you stack up this morning.

3rd. To understand the will of GOD you must be willing to accept those things that come your way as the working of GOD in your life... Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure.

When we view the life of Job we are believe or should believe that GOD'S will for JOB'S life was suffering and pain and lose of many things for a season... When Job's wife came to him note what he said..Job 2:10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Ephesians 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

4th. To understand the will of GOD we must submit to it.. Luke 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
