Man’s Terminal Illness

Isaiah 53:1:12

I.     God has given us a diagnosis:

A.   It is complicated:

1.  It affects every part of our moral being – Isa. 1:5-6

a)    Our mind

b)    Our heart

c)    Our will

2.    Blind to holiness

3.    Deaf to the appeals of God

4.    No strength to do right. Romans 5:6

B.   It is universal: Romans 3:10; 5:12

C.   It is incurable by human remedies Matthew 19:23-26

II.God has given us a remedy: (with his stripes we are healed)

A.   The just demands of the law have been met: ( Rom. 8:1-4)

1.    He kept the law – Rom. 10:4

2.    He died in our place for our breaking of the law

B.    A positive righteousness has been provided: (Rom. 1:16-17)

1.    Without the law – Romans 3:21-26

2.    Christ himself is our righteousness – I Cor. 1:30

III.        God’s remedy is effective immediately:

A.   But it must be believed: John 3;16, 18,

1.    Recognition of the sickness and that it is personal Romans 3:22

2.    Recognition and trust in the one who prescribed the remedy - II Tim. 1:12

B.   It must be received: - John 1:12
